Tesla Chair Denholm Addresses Musk’s Political Activity Amid Business Challenges
Tesla Chair Robyn Denholm has dismissed concerns over Elon Musk's political engagements, emphasizing the company's focus on product innovation and customer satisfaction. Speaking to Bloomberg Television, Denholm underscored that Musk's personal political views are separate from Tesla's corporate mission. "What he does from a personal perspective in terms of his political motivations is up to him," she said, framing the issue within the context of democratic expression.
Investor unease persists, however, as Musk's conservative leanings and ties to former President Donald TRUMP have alienated portions of Tesla's once-loyal customer base. The company reported a 13% decline in global vehicle deliveries for Q2, reflecting cooling demand among affluent, climate-conscious buyers. Sporadic vandalism at Tesla facilities has further compounded challenges.
Denholm remains bullish on Tesla's long-term prospects, asserting that product quality ultimately drives demand. "People buy things they really love," she noted, positioning Musk's leadership as an asset despite his political visibility. The remarks come as Tesla faces intensifying EV competition and an aging product lineup.
